When you first open Vast Product Image Exporter you will notice a few things besides the export dashboard itself: a Setup guide widget, a Partners page in the navigation, and a small recommendation banner for an app called Blimey. None of them are needed to run an export. Here is what each one is for and how to hide it if you prefer a cleaner screen.
The Setup guide
The Setup guide is a floating widget in the bottom right corner of the app. It opens on its own the first time you visit and walks you through the same four steps you will find on the dashboard:
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 — Select Products | Choose All products with filters, or switch to Specific products to hand pick them. |
| Step 2 — Preview & Count | Check how many products and images match before you start. |
| Step 3 — Export Settings | Pick a file naming template and a folder structure. |
| Step 4 — Start Export | Start the export and wait for the download link by email. |
The guide is a checklist rather than a separate tutorial. Work through the matching section on the dashboard, then click Mark as done on the step to tick it off. The progress bar at the top of the widget fills up as you go. If you click Mark as done while you are on another page of the app, it also takes you back to the dashboard.
Progress is tracked manually. The guide does not notice that you have run an export, so tick the steps off yourself. For a fuller walkthrough of your first export, see Your First Export: A Quick Start Guide.
Minimizing the guide
Click the – button in the widget's header to collapse it. It shrinks to a small pill in the corner that reads Setup guide · 2/4 (with your own progress). Click the pill at any time to open it again.
Dismissing the guide
Click the ✕ button in the header to remove the widget completely. Once dismissed, there is no button in the app to bring it back.
The guide remembers your choices in your browser, not in your store's account, which has two consequences:
- If you open the app on another computer or in a different browser, the guide appears again from the start, even if you dismissed it elsewhere.
- If you dismissed it and want it back, open the app in a different browser, or clear your browser's site data for the Shopify admin. Clearing site data removes the saved dismissal, but it also signs you out of the Shopify admin and resets other preferences saved for that site, so use it as a last resort.
The Partners page
Partners in the app's navigation menu opens a page of recommended apps. It lists six Shopify apps from partners that work well alongside the exporter:
| App | What it does |
|---|---|
| Blimey — Uptime Monitoring | Alerts you when your store goes down. |
| Search Bar Pro | A customizable search bar with instant results and suggestions. |
| NotifyBubble — Popup Messages | Popup notifications and announcements for your visitors. |
| FlipSlide — Image Before & After | Before and after image sliders for your storefront. |
| CompareKit — Product Compare AI | Side by side product comparison tables. |
| Reco — Product Recommendations | Product recommendations tailored to each shopper. |
Click Add to store on any card and that app's Shopify App Store page opens in a new tab, where you can read more and install it if you want to.
These are separate apps with their own pricing and their own support. Installing them is entirely optional and has no effect on Vast Product Image Exporter. If you have a question about one of them, contact that app's support team through its App Store listing.
The Blimey banner on the dashboard
At the bottom of the dashboard you may see a slim dark banner that reads "Get alerted to Shopify problems with Blimey — free." with an Install Blimey button. It is a recommendation for the uptime monitoring app from the Partners page. The button opens Blimey's App Store listing in a new tab; nothing is installed unless you choose to install it there.
If you do not want to see the banner, click the ✕ on it. It stays hidden for that store in the browser you dismissed it in. Like the Setup guide, the choice is stored in your browser, so the banner can appear again on another device or in another browser.
