Before you begin
Make sure you have installed Vast Product Image Exporter from the Shopify App Store. Once installed, you can open it from your Shopify admin under Apps > Vast Product Image Exporter.
Step 1: Open the dashboard
When you open the app, you will land on the main dashboard. This is where you configure and launch your exports. The dashboard is laid out as four numbered steps, Step 1 — Select Products, Step 2 — Preview & Count, Step 3 — Export Settings, and Step 4 — Start Export, followed by your Export History.
The first time you visit, a Setup guide widget opens in the corner with the same four steps as a checklist. You can tick each step off with Mark as done as you go, or minimize it. See The Setup Guide and Recommended Apps if you want to know more about it or hide it.
Step 2: Choose which products to export
By default, Product selection is set to All products (use filters) with no filters applied. This means every product in your store will be included, draft and archived products too.
If you only need images from certain products, you have two options:
- Use filters to narrow down by collection, vendor, product type, tags, status, or date range. See Filtering Products for Export for the full breakdown.
- Switch to Specific products (pick individually) and hand pick exactly which products you want. See Choosing Specific Products for details.
Step 3: Preview the count
Step 2 — Preview & Count on the dashboard shows how many products and images match your selection, for example "42 products, 180 images will be exported". The count updates on its own shortly after you change a filter; click Preview Count to refresh it at any time. If you are on the Free plan, this is a good moment to check that the export fits within your remaining images.

Step 4: Configure file naming (optional)
The default file naming template is Product Title + Position, which names files like Blue_T-Shirt_1.jpg. If you need a different format, you can pick from several templates in the File Naming dropdown. An "Example:" line under the dropdown shows what the names will look like.

Step 5: Choose a folder structure (optional)
By default, the Folder Structure dropdown is set to Flat (all images in root), which places every image in a single folder inside the ZIP. If you prefer your images to be organized into subfolders, you can choose from:
- By Product
- By Collection
- By Vendor
- By Product Type

Step 6: Start the export
Once you are happy with your settings, click the Export Images button in Step 4 — Start Export. The app will start processing your export in the background.
You will see a success message confirming the export has started, and a new card with a Processing badge appears at the top of your Export History.
Only one export runs at a time per store. While it is running, the button reads Export in progress…; it becomes Export Images again as soon as the export finishes.
Step 7: Wait for the email
The app downloads all your images from Shopify, organizes them according to your settings, and packages everything into a ZIP file. This usually takes a few minutes, depending on how many images you are exporting. Very large exports are split into several numbered ZIP files; see Large Exports and Multi Part ZIP Files.
When the export is finished, you will receive an email with a download link. The link is valid for 24 hours.
You can also download completed exports directly from the Export History section on your dashboard.
Step 8: Download your ZIP
Click the download link in your email, or use the Download ZIP button on the export's card in Export History. Your ZIP file will contain all the selected images, organized and named according to your settings.
What happens next?
You can run as many exports as you need. Each export appears in your Export History, where you can come back and re-download it for up to 7 days after the export completes. After that, the export is permanently deleted.
