When to use Specific products mode
Sometimes you do not need to export a whole category or collection. Maybe you just need images from five or ten specific products. In that case, switching Product selection to Specific products (pick individually) lets you hand pick exactly which products to include.
This is useful when:
- You need images for a small number of products that do not share a common filter
- You are preparing assets for a specific campaign and only want certain items
- You want full control over exactly which products are included
How to use it
Step 1: Switch to Specific products mode
On the dashboard, find the Product selection dropdown in Step 1 and change it from All products (use filters) to Specific products (pick individually).
Step 2: Open the product picker
Click the Browse products button. This opens Shopify's built in product picker, which shows all the products in your store.
Step 3: Select your products
Browse or search for the products you want, and select them. You can pick as many as you need (up to 250 products per export). When you are done, confirm your selection.
Step 4: Review your selection
Back on the dashboard, each product you chose appears as a card with its title and a Remove button, and a count such as "3 products selected" shows next to the button. Click Remove on any card to drop that product without reopening the picker.
To see how many images your selection contains, click Preview Count in Step 2. The result reads, for example, "3 products, 14 images will be exported". Products with no images still count as products but add nothing to the image total; see What Gets Exported.
Step 5: Export
Click Export Images to start the export, just like you would with filtered products. You will receive an email when the ZIP is ready.
You can still configure file naming and folder structure when using Specific products mode. These settings work the same way regardless of how you selected your products.
The 250 product limit
An export can include up to 250 hand picked products. The picker itself does not stop you at 250, but the export will not start if more than 250 products are selected. If you need more than that, use filters instead, or split the job into two or more exports.
Changing your selection
If you want to update your selection, click Change products (the Browse products button is renamed once something is selected). The product picker opens with your current choices ticked so you can add or remove products, or use the Remove button on an individual card.
Switching back to All products
You can switch back to All products (use filters) at any time using the Product selection dropdown. Your filter settings are still there, but the list of hand picked products is cleared, so you will start from an empty selection if you switch to Specific products again later.
