Uninstalling Vast Product Image Exporter is quick, and you can come back any time. Before you do, it helps to know what changes the moment the app leaves your store, what happens to your billing, and how your data is handled. Here is the full picture.
Short version: uninstalling cancels your paid plan so you stop being billed, and your store information is cleared shortly after. If you reinstall later, you start fresh on the Free plan and choose a plan again.
How to uninstall
You remove the app from your Shopify admin, not from inside the app itself.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Apps and sales channels.
- Find Vast Product Image Exporter in the list.
- Click Delete, then confirm.
Shopify walks you through the same steps in their own guide on uninstalling apps.
Your subscription is cancelled automatically
Our paid plan is billed through Shopify. The moment you uninstall, Shopify cancels that subscription for you. There is nothing else to cancel, and you will not be charged again on the next billing cycle.
A few things worth knowing:
- You do not get a separate refund for the current period. App charges are not prorated, so you keep your paid features right up until the app is removed.
- You can review past app charges on your Shopify bill at any time. Shopify explains this on their app charges page.
If your goal is only to move between Free and Unlimited rather than leave entirely, you do not need to uninstall at all. See how to upgrade or downgrade your plan instead.
What happens to your data
The moment you uninstall, the app loses access to your store. Exports stop, and you can no longer open the app for that store.
Shopify also runs a standard privacy process for every app you remove. About 48 hours after you uninstall, Shopify notifies the app to erase your information, and the app permanently deletes everything it stored for your store. That includes your store record and settings, your full export history and activity logs, your plan and usage records, and every exported ZIP file, along with any leftover image files, held in our storage. Nothing is kept, including your email address.
This deletion is permanent and is completed well within the 30 day window that Shopify requires.
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| Right away | The app loses access to your store. Exports stop and you cannot open the app for that store. |
| About 48 hours later | Following Shopify's privacy process, the app permanently deletes all of your data and every exported file, including your export history, plan and usage records, and stored email. |
Download anything you still need before you uninstall. Download links stay valid for 24 hours and can be refreshed from your dashboard, but only while the app is installed. Once the app is removed, fresh links can no longer be generated for you. See understanding export history and download links for where to find your past exports.
Reinstalling later
You are always welcome back. When you add the app again, it sets up a clean account for your store and you begin on the Free plan, which includes 100 images per month.
Because Shopify cancelled your old subscription when you left, your paid plan does not return on its own. To get unlimited exports again, you resubscribe to the Unlimited Export plan from inside the app.
- Reinstall the app from the Shopify App Store or your admin.
- Open the app and go to the Plans page.
- Choose Unlimited Export and approve the charge in Shopify.
That is it. You are back to unlimited exports for $10 a month.
